چکیده

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of opaque on resin bonding to calcium phosphate crystalline ceramics (CPCC). Disk-shaped specimens were made from the calcium phosphate crystalline ceramics (Crys-Cera). All specimens were ground with 800-grit abrasive paper, cleaned and finally air-dried. Control group (CT group) didn't undergo any treatment. Coating of one layer opaque treatment (OP1) and two layer opaque treatment (OP2) was performed. Sandblasting (SB group) was done with alumina powders. After that resin cements (Duo-Link, Panavia F 2.0, Maxcem) were applied to the surface using a bonding clamp and light-cured. All the specimens were stored in distilled water at 37oC. After 24 h storage in water, each specimen was fixed to a jig and loaded at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min until failure in a universal testing machine. Surface morphology of the treated specimens was observed and surface roughness values (Ra) were measured. The data were analyzed using a one-way ANOVA with Tukey’s post hoc test at a significance level of 0.05. Coating of the opaque on CPCC surface substantially increased surface roughness of CPCC surface. Two layer coating of the opaque group substantially increased surface roughness, when compared to one layer coating of the opaque group. Mechanical roughening using alumina particle increased surface roughness similar to one layer coating of the opaque group. In shear bond strength tests with specimens bonded with Duolink and Panavia F 2.0, OP2 group showed the highest shear bond strength. In test using Maxcem, SB group showed the highest shear bond strength. In failure pattern, CT and SB groups showed all adhesive failure, and OP1 and OP2 groups showed adhesive failure and mixed failure.

Enhancing the bioactivity of a calcium phosphate glass-ceramic with controlled heat treatment

In this paper synthesis and characterization of a bioactive calcium phosphate glass-ceramic is presented, synthesized using a facile method. The glass-ceramic samples are synthesized with heat treating the parent glass at appropriate temperatures, where different calcium phosphate crystalline phases are grown in the parent glass samples during the heat treatment. The amounts of elements a...

The Effect of Lithium Disilicate Ceramic Thickness and Translucency on Shear Bond Strength of Light-cured Resin Cement

Introduction: To achieve acceptable clinical performance, a ceramic veneer must be bonded to enamel by well-polymerized resin cement. Among different factors, thickness and translucency of the ceramic may affect the resin cement polymerization. Thus, the current study evaluated the effect of the thickness and translucency of lithium disilicate ceramic on light-cured resin cement bond strength t...

Bonding of an opaque resin to silane-treated porcelain.

The repair of a fractured porcelain surface with a resin composite was investigated. The effects of applying an opaque resin to porcelain surfaces, which were silanated by a ceramic primer from a repair kit or by an experimental silane coupling agent, were studied. The porcelain surfaces were silanated for 10 sec and 60 min. Three types of adherents were evaluated: opaque resin with light irrad...

Strength and Toughness of Reinforced Concrete with Coated Steel Fibers

The effect of zinc phosphate (ZP) and zinc calcium phosphate (ZCP) coatings on the reinforcing mechanisms of smooth steel fiber in cementitious matrix have been studied. The results of pull out tests illustrated that by coating smooth steel fiber the pull-out load may be increased up to 100%. The effect of zinc phosphate coating on interface bonding was more than zinc-calcium phosphate coating....
